Returning To Work Post Lockdown
Finally! The news we’ve all been waiting for.. an opening date!
So returning to work post lockdown, what does that mean? What does that vision look like?
I think it’s safe to say the anxiety, anticipation and excitement is a pretty mutual feeling among the beauty industry round about now..
This isn’t the same “returning to work feeling” after the Christmas holidays is it?
No it definitely isn’t.. there’s now a “new normal” we all need to adapt and make changes to.
With so much to prepare for.. “where do I begin?” You may be thinking, well look no further as I’ve taken the liberty of creating a little list to (hopefully) help prepare you for returning to work.
Step 1.
PLAN
Get a staff rota drafted, discussed and announced way before the opening date.
Arrange a staff meeting via FaceTime or Skype to discuss and make sure everyone’s strategies are discussed and taken on board before the big reopening.
Step 2.
BOOKINGS
Prioritise & Reschedule those regular clients who’s appointments were cancelled due to lockdown before taking on new clients/bookings. It’s so tempting to want to grab EVERY single booking you can get your hands on, trust me.. I get it. However you need to be organised about it and remember.. you can’t be in 2 places at once.
Step 3. CLEAN
Before & after EVERY client! Including changing all PPE, gloves, masks, aprons, towels & sanitising all work stations.
Make sure you schedule enough time in between each client to do this so it doesn’t cut into the treatment/appointment time.
Step 4.
HOURS
Understandably you and your staff will want to grab every working hour and every penny you can.. including an exhausting amount of days & hours, 13 hour days 7 day’s a week is not the way to go about it. You’ll burn yourselves out before your even back into the routine of things!
Set you and your staff reasonable, healthy days and hours.
Step 5.
COMMUNICATION Hold regular meetings on a daily basis to ensure things are running smoothly, praise them for their hard work and dedication.
Step 6.
MORALE Create a warm & welcoming atmosphere for both clients and staff, keep smiling, continue laughing and raise a toast to finally being together again.
